Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
